About

I am a clinical exercise physiologist with over 15 years’ experience working with a variety of patient populations, such as obese individuals with and without t: ype 2 diabetes, individuals with Down syndrome, individuals with multiple sclerosis and heart failure. My overall research program is aimed at understanding how exercise can be utilized to maximize health among populations with chronic conditions. As such, my work has developed to examine the interactions between exercise, cardiovascular function and obesity/diabetes. Individuals with diabetes often have extreme exercise intolerance, which is not well understood to date. My current projects are aimed at understanding how physiologic markers can assist in developing a more personalized exercise prescription that will yield larger benefits.
